Apple in its ongoing event has announced a replacement for Touch ID; Face ID will allow you to unlock your iPhone by just looking at it. The Face ID also replaces Touch ID for Apple Pay and other apps that uses it to authenticate users, like banking apps.

The facial scan, according to Apple is so accurate that there’s only a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of another random person’s face being able to unlock your iPhone.

It uses a bevy of new hardware to capture this 3D facial map – a dot projector, tradition, front camera, flood illuminator and infrared camera.

While holding a photo up of someone can’t unlock their iPhone, neither would a face mask, which were used by Apple’s engineering teams to train the feature.

The Face ID feature will debut in the new iPhone X, without the iconic home button, since that’s where Apple put the fingerprint scanner in older iPhone.
