Facebook Places: Another Privacy Concern

Facebook Places - a location-based service introduced by Facebook last month has been marred by privacy issues. It allow mobile device users broadcast their specific location to others on Facebook - a development which scammers have taken hold-on to monitor users movements.

Criminals monitor when users 'check in' to places through Facebook, as reported in a scam that occurred in the U.S, whereby 50 homes were burgled.

The trigger then points to the fact that users will have to maintain control over Facebook Places by adjusting their privacy settings. The feature which is enabled via Facebook application for iPhone and logging on to: touch.facebook.com from your mobile browser, and its currently available in the U.S, Japan and the UK, while its launch in other regions will follow subsequently.
