Android Developers blog post on thursday reported that the Android app store will soon launch the next version of the App, Android 1.6. Eric Chu, Android Mobile Platform developer in the post commented about new updates to Android Market - a relatively successful air-store that has more than 8,000 programs.
New updates to Android Market according to the post includes: developers ability to provide screenshots, promotional icons and descriptions to the App that will better show off applications and games. Also added are four new sub-categories for applications - sports, health, themes, and comics. Developers can now choose these sub-categories for both new and existing applications.
The revamped store will have tabs to facilitate finding the top paid apps, top free apps, and the most-recent programs in the store. Eric, further stated that the 'new features in Android Market for Android 1.6 will improve the overall experience of users'. However, definite time is yet to be set when the Android 1.6 update will be launched.
