Surf The Internet With Your Voice - Coming Soon

Internet users will soon be able to surf the Web hands-free, by simply using their voice.The new technology will change how people create, build and interact with information and e-commerce websites, by using speech instead of text, according to the third annual IBM Next Five in Five. Similar technology certainly isn't new, and for many years now, hearing-impaired people have been using their voice and a microphone instead of typing commands on a keyboard.

In the future, through the use of “VoiceSites,” people without access to a personal computer and Internet, or who are unable to read or write will be able to take advantage of all the benefits and conveniences the Web has to offer.

In other words, you will be able to sort through the Internet verbally to find what you are looking for and have the information read back to you – as if you are having a conversation with the Web.

IBM says the technology is based on marketing and Web 2.0 trends expected to transform our lives, as well as emerging technologies from Big Blue’s labs around the world that can make these innovations possible. It will be interesting to see how fast and to what extent the technology evolves...
